Faulty brakes will not perform as they are designed to and will not be as effective, especially in an emergency stop situation.
Brakes pads should be regularly inspected – this is possibly one of the most important parts of your brake parts; It is vital that your brake pads are intact they are the main component that makes contact with and applies pressure to and friction to a vehicle’s brake rotors.
There is nothing more important than your vehicle being able to stop.
Your vehicle will not stop effectively with worn brake pads and rotors it is therefore vitally important to change your brake pads.
The Braking System explained:
A vehicles braking system comprises of mechanical, electronic and hydraulically activated parts which use friction & heat to stop a moving vehicle.
When the brake pedal is pressed, this moves a piston within the master cylinder. This then forces the brake fluid to push through from the master cylinder through to the brake lines and from the hoses to the calipers and through to the wheel cylinders. These are connected to a disc brake pad or brake shoe thus slowing down the speed that the wheel rotates.
When you take your foot of the brake pedal, the pads and shoes return to their original positions. This will force the brake fluid back through the flexible hose and finally through the tubing to the master cylinder.
You might agree – this is a complex system.
